BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts

The educational curriculum and qualifications are delivered by Virtual Learning UK, who provide and employ all teaching staff and work in partnership with Nova Arts.

The Extended Diploma is a two-year, full-time course for learners who want to progress to higher education courses in performing arts areas and industry employment. The course is designed to equip our students will the tools they need to progress in their chosen art form. Our staff and guest tutors form a professional backbone to support progress through the course and any extracurricular opportunities.

The course is fully funded.

PATHWAYS

The course is made up of multiple modules. Some of which are compulsory and give a wide range of content and applicable knowledge of the performing arts industry.

​

Second, to the mandatory modules, there are optional choices. The student will decide which set of optional modules to choose from based on their own skillset. Whether they wish to specialise in Dance, Acting or Musical Theatre.

Dance

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (DANCE)

This course is designed to equip the student with the technical ability and understanding to pursue higher education opportunities or to enter the dance industry. A practical approach to learning covers all the bases of dance disciplines with the student encouraged to develop their specialisations whilst picking up and training in new skills. This is supported by theory work in the classroom, on visits, or during workshops.

Regular visits from operating professional performers and choreographers ensure that the training is up to date with industry demands.

​

Dance styles include - Ballet, Streetdance, Tap, Jazz and Contemporary.

Musical Theatre

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (MUSICAL THEATRE)

This course is designed to equip the student will the technical ability and understanding to pursue Musical Theatre employment or further training. The course is practical with an emphasis on performance and creation. Containing aspects of Acting and Dance this pathway could be seen as an all-rounder qualification for performance. The practical element is supported by theory work in the classroom based on designing, operating, and performing productions.

Elements of the course include - Community Performance, Singing, Dance, and Acting Styles.

Course Information

Start Date/Duration

The course starts in September 2023 and will take two years to complete.

​

Entry Requirments

UK residents, aged from 16 to 18. Five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above must be achieved, including English and Maths.

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (equivalent to three A Levels) in Performing Arts
